Hi! My name is Rene Stilwell. I have been the principal here at Hiddenite Elementary for 3 years. I live in Hickory, NC with my husband Scott and two children Kennedy (14) and Payne (11). My husband is a Social Studies teacher and football coach at Draughn High School in Burke County.
I am originally from Cross Lanes West Virginia and I bleed Blue and Gold. I am a Mountaineer... West Virginia that is. I graduated with my Elementary Education degree from West Virginia University in 1998. I received my Masters in Elementary Education from Gardner-Webb University in 2003 and my Masters in School Administration from Appalachian State University in 2007. I am also a National Board Certified teacher and will be beginning my Doctoral degree in the fall of 2015.
My past times include sports with my husband, hanging out with my children and shopping. I am a member of First Baptist Church in Hickory and a life-group leader for the youth group.
My vision for my students here at Hiddenite is that they grow up to be successful and happy. I believe all students can learn and that it takes a combined effort from parents, community, and school to make learning happen. Our motto at Hiddenite is "Yours, Mine, & Ours" because these students are all of our students, I love and treat them like my very own and their struggles and successes affect each of us. I am proud to call myself a Phantom and look forward to coming to work each and every day.
